Waterproofing - Impertrans

Click here to launch data sheet

Impertrans is a single component liquid Polyurethane resin which, after polymerisation, forms a transparent and continuous membrane with important mechanical properties.

It may be easily applied on different kinds of surface, providing a continuous elastic membrane, with great adhesion to most substrates which is resistant to the outdoor elements.

   Impertrans

Impertrans is also useful as a top layer, protecting and finishing layers made from other materials such as acrylics, etc.

Compared to conventional liquid waterproofing materials it offers the following Advantages:
  • Water resistant (even when in permanent contac with watert).
  • Fast curing.
  • Can be walked on without any special protection.
  • Impertrans does not require any reinforcement from e.g., nets, fibres, etc.
  • Its shiny, non-thermoplastic finish prevents dust adhering onto the membrane.
  • It has a transparent / shiny finish. A matt finish is also possible, using RAYSTON's Matting Agent.
  • Resistant to UV rays.
  • Excellent adhesion on most surfaces.
  • Resistant to movements in the substrate (it "bridges" gaps).
  • Resistant to impact and abrasion.
  • Excellent resistance to water and to micro-organisms.
  • It can be used in situations susceptible to a wide range of temperatures, as it maintains its properties in temperatures between - 50 ºC and + 100 ºC.
  • Impertrans membrane is totally waterproof and can remain in permanent contact with water.
  • Good chemical resistance (cleaning products, etc.).

Application:

It may be applied using rolls, brushes or airless systems and does not require any special blending as it is a single component product.

In special, non-porous substrates it is advisable to use Rayston's SPECIAL PRIMER, for best adhesion and results.

It is not recommended that Impertrans is used on substrates which may contain humidity, since this does not allow good penetration and adherence. In this instance, there are 2 possible choices of primer which must be used, in order to avoid blisters due to pressure build up under the membrane:

1. In dark coloured supports, it is best to apply Rayston's Humidity Primer
(see product data sheet).

2. In clear coloured supports, it is advised to apply a first coat of COLODUR Rigid Aliphatic coating (after Rayston's Special Primer)

It is important to ensure that the surface to be treated is properly cleaned and dried and is dust-free and particle-free, otherwise this could affect the final quality of this treatment.

It is also important not to apply the product on windy days, as this will bring in dust and particles which will adhere to the membrane.

IMPERTRANS may be applied using a brush, roll or airless system. Depending on the application, there are 2 different product versions available:

IMPERTRANS 40%: Ideal as a final or maintenance coat on other waterproofing membranes (i.e. water based acrylics), in order to improve their overall properties.

IMPERTRANS 60%. This is the proper Transparent PU membrane, and best in situations where the product needs to be applied to tiles, ceramics or other supports, and achieve enough thickness (ideally 0,5 - 1 mm thick).

Depending on the grade, the final purpose and the desired result, it is possible to apply the product in 2 or more coats. It is also important to note that IMPERTRANS will not bubble in the case of thick coats, even though it is important not to abuse this, since the product is self levelling, and it will be difficult to create a flat membrane in steep areas.

It is recommended that 24 hours is left between coats and that the membrane is not walked on during this time.

PU Solvent should be used for product dilution & tool cleaning.
