Creates high adhesion "bridges" between supports and treatment to be added - Ideal for areas where the membrane is to be applied to metal.

   Pu Primer

Pu Primer In most circumstances, single component polyurethane resins, provide excellent adhesion to substrates. This is due to their chemical crosslinking (as opposed to physical curing water based products). However, the very high cohesion of these polymers, which have very high molecular weights, together with a total lack of penetration / zero absorption of some materials, contributes to a lack of adhesion and eventual failure.

Some supports, such as those below, tend to be more resistant to adhesion than others:
  • Tiles
  • Brick
  • Terrazo
  • Marble
  • Ceramics
  • Old / polished concrete
  • Glass
  • Stainless steel
  • Old flooring surfaces
In these circumstances, if possible, it is recommended that the surface is scratched slightly to create some friction, thus increasing the adhesion and compatibility between the materials.

PU PRIMER when used with waterproofing membranes or with floorings and adhesives, promotes a chemical bonding between the elements, thus giving higher adhesion "links" between the substrate and the top-coating.

PU PRIMER provides excellent adherence in combination with Polyurethane single component products. However, please note that, by itself, PU PRIMER, does not have any film formation or mechanical properties, (so it is definitely not a product to be used on its own). Polyurethane should not be applied to substrates which are humid, wet, oil stained, greasy or dirty.

Installation / Dosing:
  • It is important to apply the product generously and evenly on the substrate, letting it evaporate, and until the support becomes dry.
  • If there is any doubt over whether or not to use PU PRIMER, a trial should be conducted in a corner or edge of the area to be treated, with and without PU PRIMER
  • Quantity recommended is approximately 150 - 200 gr/m2. This product may be applied by roll / brush, or also through some spraying mechanism.
  • It is not recommended that more than 4 hours is left between PU PRIMER application and the next coat.
Packing:

Metal cans containing 4, 9 or 20 Kg.

Health and Safety:

PU PRIMER is a non-toxic, flammable product. It is important to observe usual precautions with flammable products. Please refer to the material safety data sheet for more information.
